Build Better Product Pages on Weebly – Roomy Themes

build better weebly product page

Creating a new product is really exciting mostly because you believe in that product, you know how great it is and just can’t wait to get it out there for people to see and make use of.

Nowadays, the best and largest market place for your products is online; via your own website, social media pages, or e-commerce marketplaces for digital and physical products.

For the purpose of this post, we’re going to emphasis on selling via your own websites.

Is social media and online-hosted shops not enough for me?

One might wonder, why go through the stress of building and managing a website when you can sell via social media pages or online hosted shops like eBay, Amazon, envato, etc. Personally, I see nothing wrong with selling via any of these solutions, but there is very little you can do to control how your products are displayed “details-by-details” when using any of the above listed solutions, especially social media pages.

Social media pages and some online hosted shops have pre-designed layouts that you must build your products on. There’s way a photo should appear, where a buy button should appear, where detailed information, discount button, gift certificates, etc. should all appear. These really takes away your ability to build your product page in such a creative way that customers will find appealing.

Selling on your own weebly websites

On your own website, you can control how your product is displayed. You can come up with creative, “jazzy” or interesting ways to showcase your products.

I have worked with lots of website owners (within and outside weebly). I have seen great and amazing products displayed very terribly. Some have such long titles, some have to many description, no images, no easy purchase methods, and so on.

Product Titles:

Your product title should simply reflect the product you’re selling. You don’t have to include all the benefits, uses or other detailed information within the title. I have seen these and they don’t look good. Your product title should be simple and to the point. If your product is for “skin care” and the name of the product is “ABCproduct”, then a good and simple title is “ABCproduct For Skin care”. Simple, easy to understand and doesn’t make the page too wordy, especially when using large font-size for product title.

Product Description:

Just like the title, you should keep the description of the product about the product. Describe the product as briefly as possible. Outline the benefits, uses and other necessary details. If your product is such that has lots of information or requires that you write a lot about it, then it’s a great idea to have a landing page or simply another page (different from the product page) dedicated entirely to describing that product.  On this landing page, display a call-to-action button or link that leads to the product purchase page.

Product Images:

I’m not really sure what kind of product you would sell that shouldn’t have images, even screenshots of the product. Displaying an image or video next to the product is really good for conversion. Photo they say “speaks a thousand word”, and videos, even better. Display relevant screenshots or photos of the product on the product page. Where and how you choose to display them is entirely up to you.

Buy Now or Add to Cart Button:

Weebly automatically generates an “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” button for your products. Simply make sure that your button style (button color) is visible enough.

What else can I display on my product page?

While I maintain that you keep the product page simple and about the product, you might have other details necessary for the product page. Details such as customer testimonials, product ratings and reviews, survey, product certifications and recognition, etc.  will help increase conversion.

Summary

You don’t need an expert to build you a better product page. Following the above details and instructions, you can build a simple, yet highly functional product page that convert visits into sales.
